Peavy/Padres Close To 3-year/$51M Extension
According to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, the San Diego Padres and 2007 NL Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy are close to agreeing upon a 3-year extension which would pay the ace $17M per season. Jake is already signed for 2 more years, so the extension would go from 2010-2013.
You must give Peavy some respect for taking a looks-to-be huge paycut, as he realizes that San Diego does not have the resources teams like the Yankees and Angels have.
