Washington Acquires Dukes

The Washington Nationals and GM Jim Bowden have acquired yet another troublesome outfielder with superstar potential, acquriring outfielder Elijah Dukes from the Tampa Bay Rays in return for left-handed prospect Glenn Gibson. Dukes has a tremendous mix of speed, power, and eye. The ex-linebacker posted a .314 OBP in his rookie season last year despite batting a mere .190 with Tampa.

With Elijah now on Washington, the Nationals are trading for some big young studs who if given the right opportunities can turn into superstars. GM Jim Bowden believes that first-baseman Dmitri Young, who won the 2007 Comeback Player of the Year can put both Lastings Milledge and Elijah Dukes in check.

As for Gibson, the left-hander posted a 3.10 ERA in 58 innings-pitched for Single-A Vermont. Scouts believe that Glenn posseses a decent fastball, a very good curve, and quite a bit of polish.
