Reggie Willits

After the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim paid Gary Matthews Jr. a hefty contract to leadoff their lineup, they found out Gary wasn't the best leadoff hitter on their team. Youthful outfielder Reggie Willits has proven to have extreme patience and contact at the plate. He was named the starting left=fielder when Garret Anderson headed to the DL, and has held that spot ever since. Reggie has a .359 batting average with 3 RBI and 7 SB's, leading all rookies. His OBP of .432 is also among league leaders.

Gary Matthews has also prospered, just not in the spot he thought he would be in. The Angels played Matthews Jr. in the 4th spot, protecting Vladimir Guerrero. Matthews is hitting .303 with 6 HR and 28 RBI. He combines this with 7 SB's and is looking worth every penny the Angels handed over for his duties.

The play of these two teams have given the Angels an offensive surge, winning 5 of their last 6 games, going 22-17 overall.
