- According to Ken Rosenthal at FoxSports.com, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are not looking to move third-baseman Chone Figgins unless they acquire another third-baseman via trade. He believes that the Angels are contemplating acquiring Scott Rolen, but I doubt the Angels would want Scott. The Cubs have been harassing the Angels about Figgins, but GM Tony Reagins is standing his ground.
- The Phillies declined the Florida Marlins offer of relief-prospect Scott Nestor for third-baseman Wes Helms as GM Pat Gillick would like to see if Wes Helms can bounce back from his .246/.297/.368 line in 2007. Wes signed a 2-year, $5.45M last offseason.
