The Chicago Tribune reports that the St. Louis Cardinals are going to "pursue pitching agressively" this offseason. They already have used up $85M as I reported before, so they are making a big gamble to go out and spend another $20M or so on 2 starting pitchers to anchor a watery rotation without Carpenter or Mulder, both who have been surgically repaired this year.
If the gamble doesn't pay off, St. Louis will most likely loose quite a bit of revenue and will have to dump the money they spent in the offseason of next season. Will be nice to see them sign a Kyle Lohse and Paul Byrd for $14M total. Both could give them decent starts and would at least be very durable.
