GM Ed Wade has told the media that the Houston Astros have indeed offered 38-year old Brad Ausmus a $2M contract to catch next year. Seems like a reasonable offer, especially as Brad only hit .235 with 3HR and 25RBI in a whopping 117 games. He just finished up a 2-year $7.5M deal, so the paycut should make sense on both parties.
Ausmus put a hold on the contract for now, as he's mulling the idea of retiring and spending much more times with his children and family. If he does come back however, you can't expect another 117 games out of him.
