Rockies Strike First

In Game 1 of the NLCS, the Colorado Rockies took it to Brandon Webb and the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1. Webb wasn't nearly as masterful in this go-round, giving up 4 earned-runs in only 6 innings pitched. His counterpart, Jeff Francis, impressed many pitching 6.2 innings allowing only 1 earned-run and striking-out 4. Eric Byrnes had a nice game for the D-Backs going 2-4 with the club's only RBI. The Rockies didn't tear the cover off the ball, but timely hits by Kaz Matsui and Brad Hawpe easily lifted them to victory.

Tommorrow night, Ubaldo Jimenez will look to make a mark, going against veteran lefty Doug Davis at 10:00 EST. The ALCS will also kick-off, as aces C.C. Sabathia and Josh Beckett will go to war for their respective clubs.
