Joba To Become A Starter
The Yankees have made the decision to move set-up man Joba Chamberlain into the starting rotation starting in spring training. The move makes some sense for the Yankees, but could backfire quite a bit if Mariano Rivera is not signed as closer for next season. Joba pitched superbly last year, throwing 24 innings only allowing 12 hits and 1 earned-run.
The sample is a bit small, but Joba was a starter in the minor-leagues so i'm sure he'll do quite fine in the rotation. Hopefully he won't have any arm problems going from pitching an inning every other day to pitching 6 innings every 5 days. This move's gotta guarantee that Mariano Rivera will stay with the Yanks if anything will.
