The St. Louis Cardinals and new general-manager John Mozeliak made it clear that Jason Isringhausen would remain the closer for 2008 by picking up his $8MM option. Jason was 4-0 this season, saving 32 of 34 games.
The Cardinals will have to move some salary quickly, as they have approximately $85MM locked up for next season and have no idea how much of the investment will help the team. They don't know what to expect with Jim Edmonds or Scott Rolen, a pair that locks up more than $20MM by themselves.
