Braves close to acquiring Teixeira from Rangers

The Atlanta Braves have a deal in place to acquire the big time slugger, and the only big time catch of this year's trading deadline, Mark Teixeira and pitcher Ron Mahay. He will come at a cost for the Braves, as they give up two of their most talented prospects, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and shortstop Elvis Andrus. The Rangers recieve two pitchers from the farms as well.

I think this was a good trade for both sides. With the acquisiton of Teixeira, the Braves heat up the race in the NL East and solidify their first base needs. The Rangers recieve 2 great prospects that will someday become the face of this organization, like Tex did. The Rangers were not intrested in signing him to a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal once his contract was up after next year, so I think this was a great time to make the trade.
