TEX/MIL Deal Almost Done

The Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers were extremely close to making a swap of Akinori Otsuka for Tony Gwynn Jr. deal, reported by Ken Rosenthal. The deal would make sense for both sides, as Gwynn Jr. will roam Texas' centerfield for many years, and Otsuka would bolster the Brewers pen even more for the playoff push.

Analysis: I cannot imagine that the Rangers couldn't get more than the light hitting Gwynn for Otsuka. I have a feeling this was simply a deal dropped by an assistant GM to get the rumor mill on Otsuka spinning.
