Brewers Look To Lock Up Closer
Earlier in the day, both closer Francisco Cordero and Brewer's GM Doug Melvin were talking about returning to the old Brew Crew for next year. Most scouts believe that the closer will command anywhere from $10-11M for 3 to 4 years. He's definantly been worth it this season, throwing out a 2.78 ERA and a major-league leading 42 saves.
If the small market Brewers find a way to overthrow Chicago in the division and make the playoffs, they should shed a little extra cash to keep Francisco in Milwaukee. If they don't however, it might be hard for them to ante up double-digit millions.
