Padres Acquire Lane
Finally a trade to be announced: The Houston Astros moved 30-year old outfielder Jason Lane to San Diego in return for a PTBNL and cash considerations. Lane was only batting .178 with 8 HR and 27 RBI in Houston, so a move made sense from Houston's standpoint.
The Padres made the move after realizing that outfielder Milton Bradley will miss the remainder of the season after injuring his hamstring after being thrown to the ground by manager Bud Black.
