Red Sox catcher Doug Mirabelli had a short-lived comeback from his strained right calf. After singling a pitch in his first at-bat, Doug was removed from the game because of a new injury, a strained left hamstring. Bad luck for Doug, as now it looks like his Red Sox days are extremely limited.
Pinch-running for Mirabelli was short-stop Royce Clayton, making his Red Sox debut in this same afternoon.
