Blue Jays release struggling Clayton
Royce Clayton, the 37 year old shortstop, was given his unconditional release by the Blue Jays today, leaving him with an uncertain future in Baseball. Clayton, a one-time all star 10 years ago, played with 10 different teams in his career. The Blue Jays said it was time to let him go because of age, and their quest for new utility man for next year. Clayton hit .254 in 69 games, with a homer and 12 RBIs. He also made 7 errors.
