Mike Piazza Clears Waivers
Athletics designated-hitter Mike Piazza cleared through waivers without being claimed, meaning that no team was interested in paying the remaining $2.6M on his contract. The A's will now attempt to trade him, but would need to eat up some of his salary. The three teams in the race are still the Twins, Angels, and Mariners.
Miguel Tejada was also placed on waivers, and claimed by the Chi Sox. The two sides could not come up with a deal however.
