The Houston Astros fired both manager Phil Garner and general-manager Tim Purpura today, making it clear they are unhappy with how the team is being ran this season. Cecil Cooper will be Garner's replacement, and the assistant general managers will take Purpuras' spot for the remainder of the year.
Houston is 58-73 this season, tied with Pittsburgh for worst in the National League Central. Looks like the season was just rounded around both Craig Biggio's 3000th hit and the retirement of Bagwell's number and not the product being put on the field.
