Cubs Resign Big-Z
The Chicago Cubs ended all hopes that Carlos Zambrano will reach free-agency today, signing him to a 5-year deal worth $91.5M. The deal also includes a 1-year $19.5M player option.
Carlos started the season pitching horrible, but turned it around just as he always does. He's 14-9 on the year with a 3.86 ERA and 139 K's. The deal was definantly a home-town discount for the Cubbies, but spending $18.5M a year is still pretty hefty.
